Nugget Hunting

When you are nugget hunting for gold nuggets the primary thing to remember is to have fun. It does not matter if you are nugget hunting with a metal detector, a dry washer a dredge or any other type of gold prospecting equipment. If you are using a metal detector it will take a much longer time to become efficient at finding gold nuggets than it will with a dry washer or dredge if your goal is to see gold while prospecting everyday. The best gold detectors are made by Minelab, Whites, and Fisher as of this writing in my opinion. The two main types of metal detectors people use for gold prospecting and nugget hunting are PI or Pulse Induction and VLF or Very Low Frequency.

Nugget Hunting for gold nuggets allows you to walk a lot and get good exercise and normally where you are gold prospecting there is a lot of uneven terrain to walk over. Always plan your hunts, research the area, prepare mentally for your gold nugget hunting. If you are using a metal detector be sure to choose the right coil for your hunt, this is vital to your success.

Remember gold placer bearing areas are becoming more exhausted everyday. The hunt for new, open virgin ground is where the future success of the person nugget hunting will be.
