My name is Rod Fitzhugh and I’ve spent over 20 years photographing, hiking, exploring, rock hounding, traveling and mining gold in Arizona.
The good news about this site and our forum is everything is free. That’s right we have no sponsors, are straight shooters and all technology work, etc. is done in house. 100 percent American home grown. I’ve got a few calls and emails over the years from people looking for one of the other Rod Fitzhughs…go figure there are more of us. So to be clear as I have been misidentified by several people I’m not Rod Fitzhugh the attorney or the bike enthusiast, the technology company guy, the writer (the other writer), or the one who works for the state. If you run across any other name sakes of mine let me know, its kinda comical 
I started my outdoor journey in 1984-85 in the Arizona Mountains.
No I don’t have pounds of gold just laying around my house, maybe a nugget or two only for testing purposes. My gold is kept safely in a bank box. Gold mining is a lucrative business for me but it is not easy income.
I hunt gold not only for profit, but the thrill of the hunt, joy of finding gold and most importantly brotherhood and friendship with other prospectors. Hi Rod; My name is Bob and I’m from Alberta, Canada. I will be in Maricopa late March to pick up my dad and am hoping to get out and do a bit of panning in Lynx Creek. I have been wetting my pan for 2 years in Ab rivers and have found some flour gold but definitely don’t have much experience! Would appreciate any direction you could give me so I know how to proceed when I get there. I have been looking at panning tours and such but don’t know which are good! Look forward to hearing your comments.

i sure do like your stuff… live near Congress, AZ… doing MD and drywashing for 8 years… but single now and sure would enjoy wandering around with other members and drinking a couple brews… never much gold… i am more of a prospector than a miner,,, enjoy the exploring more,,, 2 minlabs, gold bug 2, pinpointer, 2 drywashers, 2 blowers/vacuums, highbanker, sluice, other piles…offroad Ranger, Honda 650 ATV, cold beer, jerky…

I live in Nevada and been dredging and prosecting for about 15 years. I have been thinking about Metal-Dectecting in Arizona But don’t know many places could use some advise on where to go. My Health don’t allowed me to get out much but I still like to do it when I can. Thanks

Also I used to Belong to Arizona Association of Mining Districts, Weaver District Base out of Congress back in 1997 But was never able to do anything at the time I was traveling threw with a friend and we stop in just to check it out. Are they still there or did they disolved the charter? thank you for any information that you can give me.

Check oout the fourm not bad. Also LIKE YOUR PHOTOS’ Are they all your finds or yours and others? What was the biggest finds and your small find with a detector.
