The Desktop Prospector
The Desktop Prospector gold prospecting software can pull all USGS mine data for the U.S. based on mine name, county, or topographical map name, show topographical and aerial maps side by side that you can zoom in and out on with five different zoom levels and also has a pin pointer. It also has other tools which can further enhance your gold research efforts and can print maps and data. The best part is since Desktop Prospector is a web based application many aspects of it can be added quickly and easily. This project started out a commercial venture in 2003 however after much thought I decided to go GPL as I don't have the time to complete the entire commercial version right now. This will kick start any prospectors research efforts, search and locate over 100,000 mineral locations! Very easy to use! Print your research data! Although its changed over the years and will continue to evolve the Desktop Prospector is the original gold prospecting software.
