Rockhound and I got out on Sat. back to where scored his first nug, no gold today except for fines spotted while crevicing.

This area needs to be run over with several coils, my 17 DDPro was acting up, might have to take the skid plate off and see if anything is in there moving around like black sands doh1.gif

Its good medicine to never write off a nugget producing area until you hit it hard with several coils icon_mrgreen.gif

We got these two small copper nugs and then we visited a nearby prospect. Adam found a nice specimen the size of a cell phone that looks to have small gold in it. Its real small and at first we thought it might be pyrite but its not cubic and a few millimeters away is a nice golden wire strand that is certainly not pyrite. Micro gold can drive your eyes nuts wacko.gif I tried a macro pic but I'm not as good with this new camera as I was with the old one, yet cool.gif Its always good to find out as there might be some serious gold in the dispersed tailing beer.gif I think Adam might crush it up and pan it.

Last week there was a huge swarm of bees in here. Yesterday when we got there not a bee in sight. No swarm sounds. Stayed that way until about 3PM then all of the sudden BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ ohmy.gif Even though there are many plants and flowers in bloom in the area we hiked it all day and did not see random bees in the trees etc. The only bee I saw close had green stripes and not yellow, strange but I'm no bee expert either.

This is certainly a B Movie laugh.gif
I'm smart enough to not rashly court danger so I did not go looking for the swarm to get some great movie, but chose to stay put and just film the sounds. Turn your speaks all the way up and you'll hear them ohmy.gif

Rod...just Bee-tween you and me, I stay vewy, vewy quiet when I hear a swarm coming! Been trying a new spot 3 times in the last week, and had bee swarms around on all three trips. But thats O K...Im getting some nice flakes out of my bedrock crevice samples. Every pan has a few coarse flakes so far, and that in 5 or 6 different spots up and down the dry bed. What's really interesting is that the gully is all deep blue material....ancient/tertiary channel that this gully cuts through, I would guess??? We shall see....

Well Rod, I am not at all sure that the gold in this little gully isn't coming from (what I believe) is the ancient channel, rather that the existing hillsides, and gully that cuts through the blue. Most of this wash is less than 8 ft wide...more like 4-5 ft in most places, and does not flow enough in 'flood' stage to move gold down the wash. Also, there are so many bedrock traps...some only a few feet apart, that I can't really see gold being able to move much down stream. I have found flake in bedrock samples in 5-6 locations along maybe, 3/4 mile of the length of this little wash. The whole gully is only about one mile in length. If I am right, and the gold here originates from the orginal blue materials that the existing gully now cuts through would I be better off trying to dig down through the blue to layers under the ancient channel(assuming that's what it is)? What do you think?....new stuff for me doh1.gif
