Hi all,
I am planning a prospecting trip for December or January and if I would bring just one piece of equipment during those months would it be better to bring a dry washer or recirculating hi banker? I have a metal detector, pans etc.
Thank you,
Larry

P.S. Thanks Rod for the site and all that you put into it. Good stuff.

Welcome Larry and thank you! I'd bring it all if you can, the weather is not the norm right now and its kind of hard to say what will happen in regards to storms. What kind of detector do you have?

Like Rod said bring it all. I was Dry washing one weekend in September (the height of the Monsoon) and damn near running a sluice the next weekend in the same creek. The weather is exceptionally unpredictable right now. I was out dry washing this week but I always have the recirc and other equipment ready. Hell you might DW in the morning and use the recirc by lunch.

Plus this way if one of your systems craps out you can still keep going.

Good luck,

Keith

Hi Rod and keitharmy,
Thank you for your reply's. I will bring both. My metal detector is a White's MXT. I know it won't reach the depths that a Minelab will but from info probably from this site I will be trying to scrub 2"-4" above bedrock. This will be a first for me. Early this year I did some hibanking in N. Carolina. Got a little gold. Thirty years ago I did the pan and water thing in Nevada. Not real productive but fun. Again thanks for the advice and maybe I'll see some of you out there.

I open to suggestions. My general plan though is someplace between Quartzsite and Wickenburg.
